Solid Ground Church, Middelburg, South Africa

Solid Ground Church is passionate about our city, Middelburg.  The main way that Solid Ground aims at reaching out to the city is through our Sunday Celebration service.  We believe that by coming together every Sunday Morning as well as making those times completely open to the general public, we preach the gospel to our city.  Secondly, every week home groups meet throughout the city of Middelburg.  These are the fingertips of Solid Ground Church as the church meets in various suburbs in and around Middelburg.  

So often, a person can pose the question, "There is a particular need in the town, what is the church doing about it?"  Our response to that question, is simply "what are you doing about it?"  In the past, groups have identified needs that exist within the city, and have voluntarily mobilized themselves to address that particular need.  Take for instance ministry to the injured and ill in the local hospitals, reaching our and building bridges with the local police force, spending times with the orphaned in the local Care Village (One of Middelburg's Orphanages) as well as keeping a well-stocked pantry (with goods donated from the congregation) to help subsidize the poor that exist within our congregation.  

Though we recognize that the needs that exist within our city are great, we continually trust in God that He will use us all mightily to help and address these needs.  Solid Ground is not a charity, although we are called to be charitable.  Primarily our calling is to preach the Gospel to a God-starved city.  Each of us are the church, and this is our calling - to see the lost turn to Jesus Christ as the only hope for salvation.
