In the beginning, God created everything, physical & spiritual. He created humanity in His image, to rule and reign over the earth in relationship with Him. We read all about this in the first book of The Bible, Genesis. Shortly after creation, the story took a downward turn when the first humans, Adam & Eve, chose to rebel against God. Having listened to the lies of someone else who had previously rebelled against God (Satan/the Devil), Adam & Eve chose to do life on their terms - deciding for themselves what would be good or evil. They rejected God and His loving instruction to trust Him. They walked away from the One who gave them life and by doing so, they walked straight into death.

Ever since that historic moment, every single human being's heart has been corrupted with a rebelliousness that the bible calls sin. The rebellion gets passed on to every new generation. The bible tells us that since Adam & Eve, we are all born this way. We live in the constant cycle of rejecting God's truth and experiencing the guilt, shame, and destruction of our rebellious actions. We see this so clearly today in the world around us which is filled with oppression, pain & suffering. The reality is, we don't have the power to break this cycle.

The Good News or as the bible calls it, the 'Gospel', is the main story of the bible. It's the story of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It's good news because it's about what He has done for humanity. His life in human flesh is the greatest and most significant moment in all of creation's history. In His mercy, God refused to let humanity suffer and die in their sin forever. He sent His only Son Jesus to take our sins upon Himself, to suffer & die on our behalf (He was unjustly subjected to the worst kind of Roman execution - public death on a cross). He offered His life as a sacrifice to satisfy the punishment our rebellion deserved, and at the same time, He warred against His enemies who held us captive - Satan, sin, and death.

And He was victorious.

How do we know He was victorious? Jesus was raised to life! He walked out of his own grave on the third day after His death. Many people witnessed his death & resurrection.

Jesus is alive! Satan, sin & death were no match for Him. He has the authority & power to offer His new life to everyone who comes to Him and humbly asks. We simply come to Jesus as we are, recognising that we are lost to the eternal consequence of our sins unless He rescues us (the bible calls this consequence Hell, it's a horrible place and it's forever). His message is that we don't have to die in our rebellion. He does not want us to. He has the power to forgive us, to welcome us into His Father's Kingdom, to give us eternal life, and He holds this offer out to us day after day after day. So hold out your hand and ask Him to come and be Lord & Saviour of your soul.

Listen to what one of Jesus's Apostles says about people who put all their trust in Jesus (An Apostle was someone who had physically seen Jesus after He was raised to life and tasked to spread the news about Him):

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—not from works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:4–9 CSB)

When we come to Jesus and surrender our life to Him, He forgives us and gives us a brand new life. The Spirit of God literally comes and takes up residence in our physical bodies - we now have unrestricted access to the God of all creation!

We are saved from our sins and we are saved into eternal life with God. We have new desires, a new purpose (which is to serve God with our lives) and a new family along with every other person who calls upon Jesus. We now have hope! We don't have to fear death because God's word tells us that for believers, death is just a curtain we pass through - other side of which is seeing & enjoying God face-to-face, forever.

Give Him your life and He will give you His. He never turns anyone away who comes to Him in honesty.

We pray that you would personally come to know Jesus Christ as Lord & Saviour.

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 CSB)
